Easiest Icon Creation, Plain and Simple
If you are like me, you are picky about how your desktop folders look, icon-wise. I also am picky about creating a favicon.ico for each website that I run. I’ve been doing this the old fashioned way, by using MS Paint.. but recently I stumbled across a Photoshop plugin that does more than most people could ever need when it comes to icon creation.
It’s called IconBuilder, and I think after you see this video you’ll be just as in love with this as I am. The best part is that it creates all different sizes and formats of an icon all in one file. With Windows Vista, programs that use the icon will automatically know which version to use and will pull it accordingly.
What if you don’t use Photoshop? You are in luck then. The IconBuilder plugin also works for Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004.
For those of you who didn’t know you can change your folder icons, here’s how do do it in Windows XP.
1. Right click on the folder
2. Select Properties
3. Click the Customize tab
4. Under Folder Icons select Change Icon
![]()
5. Browse to your icon file and select it.
That’s it!
