Microsoft Caught Red (Apple) Handed…
Here’s a nice bit of dirt on Microsoft. While I’m a fan of Microsoft, and I use a lot of their software, I’m not going to let this one go. Earlier this morning, DaringFireball.net posted a very nice find on Microsoft.com. The error has since been corrected, but screenshots exist, and they will be used in this case to call out the guilty.
Microsoft apparently has a very lazy graphic designer on staff. And by very lazy, I mean he (or she) was probably fired today. The logo above was taken from Apple’s website under Industry-Leading Management Tools. And by taken, I mean by Microsoft.
Earlier today, a page in the Vista business section of Microsoft.com featured that exact same logo. Well, not exactly.. It was slightly bigger and skewed ever so slightly.
Exhibit A:
This is a screenshot taken from Microsoft.com. Does anybody else see an uncanny resemblance to the icon from Apple, (pictured above)?
Being a PC lover myself, I’m going to have to bite my tongue and say that I agree with DaringFireball here.. The icon was clearly stolen by Microsoft. I’m sure the “high ups” were not aware that they were hosting an Apple owned icon, but by now they have definitely been made aware of this. In fact they icon was pulled earlier in the day and replaced with a ridicluous icon that somebody probably made in about 30 seconds.
It was then later replaced again with something a bit more permanent. Go to this page on Microsoft.com and click the “Buy Now” button on the right. You’ll see where the above image USED to be. Seems everything has been corrected now. I wonder what the guy responsible will tell his next employer when they ask him why he “left” Microsoft..
