PlayStation 3 at 20%In a recent interview, Glenn Entis, EA Vice President & Chief Visual Officer talked about the differences between PS3 and XBox 360 game development. When PS3 was released just a few weeks ago, it seemed to be right on par with current XBox 360 titles. Here’s the kicker:

“The whole industry knows it’s been a challenge; the PS3’s a very complex piece of equipment. On one hand it’s a challenge, on the other hand there’s tremendous potential in that box. I think it’s going to take developers a little while to figure out how to unlock that power.

We’ve got games coming out now where we feel we’ve hit maybe 20 per cent of the potential of PlayStation 3. We know the power’s there, but like any new platform it’s going to take us a little bit of time to unleash it.

Was it more complex than we were expecting? Yes, probably; there were some challenges that we didn’t expect. We’ve got tremendous confidence long-term that it’s going to be a phenomenal games machine.”

Very interesting.

YouTube Quick CaptureDo you have what it takes to create the next “Numa Numa” video? Are you held back only by your lack of video recording and editing software? Well that excuse will no longer work! As of yesterday, YouTube users can now record live video directly to their account.

All you need is a web browser, a webcam, and a microphone! With the new Quick Capture feature you can record videos directly to YouTube through an easy to use Flash based application. Simply enter a title for your video, press record, and you’re well on your way to Hollywood fame and fortune!

So what are you waiting for? Find your favorite Romanian techno song and share your dance moves with the world.

If you are like me, you are picky about how your desktop folders look, icon-wise. I also am picky about creating a favicon.ico for each website that I run. I’ve been doing this the old fashioned way, by using MS Paint.. but recently I stumbled across a Photoshop plugin that does more than most people could ever need when it comes to icon creation.

It’s called IconBuilder, and I think after you see this video you’ll be just as in love with this as I am. The best part is that it creates all different sizes and formats of an icon all in one file. With Windows Vista, programs that use the icon will automatically know which version to use and will pull it accordingly.

What if you don’t use Photoshop? You are in luck then. The IconBuilder plugin also works for Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004.

For those of you who didn’t know you can change your folder icons, here’s how do do it in Windows XP.

1. Right click on the folder
2. Select Properties
3.
Click the Customize tab
4. Under Folder Icons select Change Icon

5.
Browse to your icon file and select it.

That’s it!

Grease up your PC and it will go faster! No really, this is true..

Ok, this is my first blog post on GreasyPC.com so I’ll attempt to make it a worthy one. Basically, this site will soon become an “All things tech” blog, but I’ll focus a good deal on computers, hardware, and the latest and greatest gadgets.

I’m a gamer, a programmer, a web designer, and a tech. I dabble with all things tech and am usually on top of the latest tech news. Having never really gotten into blogging, I’m a bit of a late comer to the scene but I’ll just have to blog extra to make up for lost time!

I’ve actually made two new bog websites today, including this one. It shouldn’t be too hard finding the coolest tech news out there, so keep an eye on this site and look for updates as I move forward.

Stay tuned..
